Another stunning day in Córdoba - brilliant blue skies. Temperature in the low 30s, so The French and I have adopted the Spanish way, taking a siesta in the afternoon - retreating to the cool of our apartment for a few hours before heading out early evening. The light in the early evening is beautiful - and we enjoy the easy pastime of wandering though the narrow streets, or down by the river, to choose our tapas bar for dinner. Last night's was superb. We have taken to asking the waiters for recommendations, starting with Miguel in Castro del Rio, and so far it's working out. We've tried lots of new local dishes - all of them delicious.
The French is doing better and able to stroll around slowly but, in this heat, he is careful not to overdo it. Luckily we are in the heart of the old town, and a short walk to the Mezquita, which we visited this morning. Wow! Tomorrow, our last day in Córdoba, we will visit Alcazar, just down the road. Everything is so close by.
This afternoon we also used siesta time for a 'team meeting' to reassess our Camino plans. We had hoped after a few days rest, Domi's foot might have healed enough and we would make our way to a town further along the Mozarabe and re-start the Camino from there. But, we can see that's not a good idea. The infection is healing but he's not out of the woods. It's one thing to stroll around tentatively for an hour or two - it's quite another to walk between 25 and 35 kms a day with a 10kg pack, especially in this heat. He's disappointed - but we have loved this time in Cordoba and we are working on a new plan for our movements before meeting Rosanne in Seville on the 16th. Can't wait to see her! We've seen some flamenco venues in Granada and now in Córdoba. But we are saving that for Seville.
Before then, perhaps we'll go to the Costa del Sol or maybe Portugal. As the French likes to say 'Tout est possible'. Team meeting to be reconvened. Plenty to discuss over tonight's tapas.
So my adventures with The French continue - but this will be the last update for this blog. My blogs started with and have always been about walking the Camino. Nothing else. Writing about our pre-Camino adventures in France was a one off. If we happen to pick up on another Camino path later in the month ... you might hear from me again.
In the meantime, thanks so much for your interest and good wishes.
A bientot. Hasta luego. See you soon.
Amities et bisous - friendship and kisses.
